CIATRE
PROFESSIONAL THEATRE COMPANIES' ASSOCIATION
OF CATALONIA
|
CIATRE
is an association of professional theatre companies which groups
different Catalan companies, created in the month of June, 1996
with the aim to strengthen and maintain a private and independent
style of creating, managing and propagating theatrical shows.
The companies in our association, some of which have a history
of more than twenty years and millions of spectators around
the world, are creators, producers and distributors of their
own shows.
Their artistic diversity is an important element to consider
when seeking common solutions to common problems.
In face of the "State culture" which has made, in
all of Europe, the State the businessman with the most power
and in face of the pure and simple commercial offer of private
producers, Ciatre represents a third
way in which, without disengaging itself from market laws it
makes a bid for rigorous research and innovation in the language
in our companies' shows.
Ciatre's objectives are:
- Preserve
theatre of independent creation which is a first important
cultural resource for society.
- Establish
a platform for agreements with public cultural agents.
- Defend
theatrical policies and spaces which will allow for the growth
and consolidation of new companies.
- Establish
contacts and exchange information with siilar associations
to Ciatre in Europe and in the rest of the world.
- Distribuite
information among the members of the association about everything
that affects our sector: labour agreements, national and international
regulations, employment market situation, institutional subventions
and international subventions, etc.
At the
moment, the seventeen companies which are introduced in this
web page form part of Ciatre. Neverthless, our association
hopes and wishes to open its doors to all those professional
companies which share the principles under which it was created.
Ciatre is convinced that, from its common stand, it can
achieve its basic objective to make the Theatre's voice of imagination,
without forgetting the essential madness to maintain a theatrical
style which we have formed these past years.
