SÈMOLA TEATRE

SYNOPSIS

The company is in the phase of rehearsals for a theatre spectacle.

The new spectacle of SÈMOLA TEATRE is the continuity in the experience of their last 10 years, where it has made researches about the decadency of the individual and his mundane surroundings.

In our last work ¿BAILAMOS? (DO WE DANCE?), we explored the choreographed movement of the characters. In this we shall rumble the musicographed physical movement.

Without forgetting neither the poetical and oneiric enwrapment of each and every of the characters, nor their innermost wishes, caprices, disillusions, or decadences.

Sèmola Teatre always begins its new assemblies employing a more or less definite time to elaborate, by means of a generic idea and with the co-operation of its actors, the node of what we shall finally denominate “the spectacle”.

This work, for the present, are trials on the stage about a lot of ideas which we are going to explain more in detail:

Joan Grau seeks, in his spectacles, the dichotomy of the real and the imaginary things in the world of his characters.
Now, they will enter within the particular world of the “night” where they will practise the profanation of the quotidian things.
And they will deposit the most conventional illusions which, in the course of the hours, will be transforming.

The sensuality into sex, the physical and psychical violence, the claustrophobia of the environment, the alcohol, drugs, the music with the decibels at reasonable levels. The relationships – real, imaginary or provoked, followed by frustrations. The loneliness of the individual. The obscure desires at a determinate age, etc…
The night is, with D.J., a loaded environment.
The scenographical space is reinforced with images in continuous and obsessive movement.
It is occupied by 5 actors of the Company, plus some figurants on the stage.
They do not speak, they seek the corporal language. Movement.
The continuous movement of the body, the physical fatigue as expression and confusion of the decadency of the individual.
