Following this summer’s performances in Alcañiz and at the Olmedo Clásico Festival, Els Joglars continue touring El retablo de las maravillas with a new stop at the Auditorio Parque Almansa in San Javier as part of the San Javier International Festival of Theatre, Music and Dance (Murcia). The company will perform on 8 August at 10.30 pm as part of one of the Region of Murcia’s leading performing arts festivals.
With this production, Els Joglars revisit Miguel de Cervantes’ celebrated entremés to deliver a contemporary satire on collective manipulation, the fear of social judgement and the ease with which appearances can prevail over truth. True to the company’s distinctive style, the production combines humour, irony and critical insight to create a dialogue between the classical text and today’s social dynamics.
