Sala Ars in Barcelona will host Una castanyada de por from 17 October to 1 November, a Magatzem d’Ars production aimed at families that stages, with humour and a festive spirit, the debate between the tradition of the Castanyada and the growing popularity of Halloween. In Una castanyada de por, the traditional Castanyera comes down from the mountains, as she does every year, to sell chestnuts in the town square. But this time she encounters an unexpected situation: children are much more interested in Halloween costumes, sweets and treats than in chestnuts.
