DESCRIPTION
Founded in 1998 by Marcel Tomàs and Susana Lloret, Cascai Teatre is a one-of-a-kind comedy theatre company, with an unmistakable personality and an unclassifiable style. They are committed to constant creation, merging disciplines, and reinventing stage language with our own unique and innovative approach.
Their shows are inspired by the great classics of both national and international comedy, bringing iconic literary characters, such as Don Quixote, to the stage and adapting the works of playwrights like Shakespeare. Additionally, they experiment with blending theatre and live music, from jazz to traditional sounds, always with humour as the backbone of our work.
Their characters are unique and unforgettable: histrionic, obsessive, and grotesque—modern clowns without red noses, yet with an unmatched comedic force. They are antiheroes of everyday life, imperfect beings struggling to fit into the world, allowing us to see reality through a lens full of irony and fun, revealing the most entertaining side of life.
With a well-established national and international career, Cascai Teatre has performed at renowned venues and festivals such as Temporada Alta Festival in Girona, El Grec Festival in Barcelona, the Avignon Festival in France, Estivales Perpignan, Humore Belgium, Fira Tàrrega, Feten Gijón, and many others.
The originality and unique signature of Cascai Teatre have been recognized with various awards, including the 2013 BBVA Award for Best Show and Best Performer, the 2012 Le Coup de Foudre Award at Les Estivales, Best Show at the Mostra de Santa Eugènia de Mallorca, Best Show at the Valencia Café-Theater Circuit, Best Performer for Marcel Tomàs at the Centre Cívic Ciutat Vella in 2000, and Best Show at Radio City Valencia in 2003.
Cascai Teatre is all about comedy theatre—a commitment to originality, quality, and a unique way of seeing the world through laughter.
