DESCRIPTION
Maravilla Theater is a contemporary performing arts company founded in Barcelona in 2016.
Our artistic research is grounded in one conviction: the body is the origin of dramaturgy. Through Narraturgia Poètica Corporal (NPC), the company’s original methodology, our creations explore the relationship between body, identity and power, understanding performance as a space of resistance, memory and poetic expression.
More than an expressive tool, the body lies at the heart of our dramaturgical research. Our creations bring together dramaturgy, autofiction, physical training, performative risk and poetic writing within a single creative process, exploring the performer’s physical and emotional limits as a driving force of dramaturgy. Each production represents a new chapter in an ongoing artistic investigation.
Since its foundation, Maravilla Theater has created Wonder Boy (2017); #JASTAKK (2018); Hamlet Radikal (2019); B HATE (2019); and Repoblar l’ànima en temps de mascareta (2023), recipient of the MUTIS Award for Best Production (2023), the ACT Award (2024) and the MUTIS Award for Best Actress (2023) and and was part of the official selection, IMPARABLES Festival which was held in 2025 at NAVE 73 in Madrid.
Alongside its creative work, Maravilla Theater develops laboratories, workshops and educational programmes based on Narraturgia Poètica Corporal (NPC), understanding pedagogy as a natural extension of its artistic research.
Maravilla Theater continues to expand its artistic research through new creative processes, artistic residencies and national and international collaborations.
