Cia. Núria Esquius continues its stage work throughout November with two productions exploring different theatrical and musical languages: La cupletista and L’Executiva.

On 22 November at 6 pm, as part of D.O. Territori Escènic, Cal Xic venue in Arbúcies (Girona) will host La cupletista, a production that revisits a fundamental chapter in Catalan musical and theatrical history. The show celebrates the legacy of Càndida Pérez Martínez, a pioneering composer at a time when female musical creators were a rarity, and the author of some of the most popular cuplés in Catalan song. Featuring text and vocals by Núria Esquius, piano accompaniment by Jorge Varela and direction by Pere Sagristà-Ollé, La cupletista combines historical insight, music and entertainment to champion a genre that once held a prominent place on Catalan stages.

The company’s second performance of the month will take place on 20 November at 8 pm at Sala B in Amposta (Tarragona), where it will present L’Executiva, a musical tragicomedy thriller full of irony and dark humour. The play introduces Sofie Hazzard, a talented headhunter who discovers that the candidates she has recruited into the corporate world have become unscrupulous monsters. Faced with this situation, she decides to take action: by day, she is a brilliant executive; by night, a hunter determined to deliver justice. Núria Esquius performs this journey between the corporate world and revenge as a solo performer, accompanied on piano by Jorge Varela. With its fast-paced staging, the production raises a fundamental question about the boundaries between professional and moral responsibility.
