The company La Baldufa will present its show Fantasmes de Guerra on February 24 at FETEN ’26, the International Performing Arts Fair for Children and Families in Gijón, an annual benchmark event in Spain and internationally dedicated to theatre, dance, music, and other performing arts for young audiences.

Fantasmes de Guerra is a theatre-in-theatre project with live music that tells the story of three inseparable friends who grow up sharing games and dreams, until a war breaks out and separates their paths. Years later, now grown and reunited in a retirement home, the ghosts of the past reappear, bringing to the surface words that were never spoken and forgiveness that is hard to express.

Inspired by the work Érem feres (Pagès Editors, 2023) by historian Oriol Riart, the show draws on real diaries of combatants from both sides of the Spanish Civil War to create a dramaturgy that is intimate, human, and intergenerational. With touches of humor and sensitivity, Fantasmes de Guerra is a tribute to lasting friendships and a reflection on the absurdity of conflict, inviting children, young people, and adults to share the story and consider one final attempt at reconciliation.
