Tallar-se un peu amb una motoserra, by Magrana Escena, will close its season in the Upper Hall of Sala Beckett on February 8. The play, written and directed by Bàrbara Mestanza, tells the story of two journalists who uncover a series of articles about sexual abuse committed by several directors and politicians. These articles became the #MeToo the country needed, sparking a media revolution that forced these men to abandon their professional lives and face public cancellation on a national scale.
But one Monday, the journalists receive a key piece of information that calls their entire trajectory into question: Ricard Roig, one of the accused, has attempted suicide. With the entrance of this man’s daughter, reality becomes unavoidable, and cracks appear in the speeches and certainties that had supported the protagonists.
Tallar-se un peu amb una motoserra is an uncomfortable and necessary piece about guilt, the limits of restitution, and the gray areas of responsibility. Three women struggle between truth and the shadow of their ideals, showing with strength and honesty the moral complexities of their actions and the world around them.
