Fira Terres, the indoor theatre fair for adult audiences in Catalonia, reaches its second edition from 4 to 8 February in Granollers, Canovelles and Les Franqueses del Vallès under the slogan “Let the scene simmer”, an invitation to keep live performance creation alive and to strengthen collaboration between companies, professionals and audiences. Organised by CIATRE with the support of ICEC, Fira Terres is one of the nineteen measures included in the First Theatre Promotion Plan of Catalonia 2023–2026, aimed at encouraging hiring within the theatre sector.
A total of 200 professionals have been accredited and will have the opportunity to see the fourteen programmed companies over four days, as well as to take part in the professional programme, which includes business meetings, networking lunches and presentations. Accreditation is open until 23 January.

The performances will take place at the Teatre Auditori de Granollers, Teatre Auditori Can Palots, Roca Umbert Fàbrica de les Arts, Cinema Edison, Teatre Auditori de Bellavista and the Casal Cultural Corró d’Avall. The Dents de Serra warehouse, located within Roca Umbert Fàbrica de les Arts, will host Fira Terres PRO, the programme aimed at professionals.

The programme // Of the fourteen participating companies, eleven are from Catalonia and three from other parts of Spain. The programme features a wide range of genres—text-based theatre, monologues, documentary theatre, musicals and visual theatre—bringing together both established companies and emerging groups.

The performances scheduled are: Manual per a éssers vius by La Mula; Dysphoria by Histrión Teatro (Andalusia); Maclownbeth by Projecte Longàmine; Guillermotta by Els 3 Js; Jo travesti by Cia. Roberto G. Alonso; Mary by Sala Flyhard; Pla per Roig by Ferran Utzet; El temps de les tortugues by Dora Cantero; Burpees by Cia. Mea Culpa; La mujer helada by Rayuela Producciones (Castile and León); Chocolate by Produccions de Ferro (Balearic Islands); Hamlet.02 by Primera Rèplica; Perla by Cia. Les Pinyes; and Arribaràs i serà de nit by Projecte Ingenu.

The selection committee was made up of theatre professionals Anna Rosa Cisquella, Emma Escolano, Josep Miquel Galvany, Joan Pascual, Marta Crespi and Martí Rossell. Performances are also open to the general public, with ticket prices ranging from €10 to €15.  Fira Terres performances will benefit from the collaboration of Teatre Accessible, a pioneering project dedicated to making theatre accessible through resources such as surtitles, amplified sound and individual induction loops.

Supports for the theatre sector // The First Theatre Promotion Plan of Catalonia 2023–2026 is an initiative of the Department of Culture of the Government of Catalonia, the Association of Performing and Directing Professionals of Catalonia (AADPC), the Association of Theatre Companies of Catalonia (ADETCA), the Association of Professional Theatre Companies of Catalonia (CIATRE), the Professional Association of Theatre for All Audiences (TTP), the Collective of Independent Theatre Companies of Catalonia, the Street Arts Platform (PAC) and UNIMA Catalonia.

The plan is supported by the Institut Ramon Llull (IRL) and the National Council for Culture and the Arts (CoNCA), as well as by various municipalities, organisations and performing arts venues across Catalonia. It includes 19 specific measures aimed at supporting creation and production projects; improving dissemination and audience development; encouraging hiring; ensuring training and professional development; promoting data collection and knowledge; and incorporating environmental sustainability and accessibility criteria.
